Abstract

Introduction: Hydatid disease is a parasitic disease that occurs mostly in the liver and can be asymptomatic to a wide range of symptoms. The patient usually complains of the mass pressure effects or cyst rupture.
Case: The patient was 11-year-old boy who presented with abdominal pain. Patients noted a history of trauma to the abdomen 2 days before admission. On physical examination, patient has generalized urticarial rashes, especially on the trunk and thighs that were pruritus. In abdominal ultrasound image of a hypoechoic mass with a lot of free fluid in the abdomen was seen. In CT scan a view of the Water lily sign was seen. For patient open abdominal surgery was performed. Masses were removed and the peritoneal cavity was lavaged with povidone iodine and hypertonic fluid. 7 days after surgery, the patient was discharged with good condition and Albendazole order.
Discussion: Traumatic rupture is themost serious complication of hydatid cyst that can cause anaphylaxis and death and usually needs emergent surgery.
