Pharmacy management assessment based on accreditation standards for JCI-2008 in Tehran University of Medical Sciences hospitals

Abstract

Introduction:
 Accreditation program according to JCI standards, is Known as the world's most comprehensive accreditation program. If the pharmacy management done with standards that validated nationally and internationally, Can improve the performance, efficiency and effectiveness of the unit. The aim of this study is evaluate the Tehran University of Medical Sciences pharmacies in terms of compliance with the standards of the Joint Commission International Accreditation.
 
Methods:
 This is a cross- sectional study. The population is teaching hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Due to the limitation, every 5 hospital, Amir Alam, Sina, Baharloo, Imam Khomeini and Shariati with census method were studied. In this study, observation and question method were used to collect data. The data collection tool was Pharmacy management checklist based on accreditation standards JCI 2008.
 
Results:
 In this study, Highest scores for evaluation hospital pharmacy management standards was for Baharloo and Sina hospitals and the lowest scores are related to Shariati hospital.
 
Conclusion:
The current system of drug therapy in Tehran University of Medical Sciences hospitals and Systems bound JCI accreditation standards, there is not large gap.
