Abstract

Despite the vital role of the nursing profession in providing high-quality care and promoting the health of the community, its social position and public image remain ambiguous and inconsistent. The social image of nursing is a long-standing and challenging concept that has evolved under the influence of various historical, cultural, and structural factors. The development of a positive public image of the nursing profession is affected by multiple determinants, and improvement in these factors can enhance the social perception of nursing, with noticeable impacts on the healthcare system and society at large. Through collaborative efforts and by leveraging all available professional capacities and societal potential, significant steps can be taken to strengthen nursing’s professional identity and public image. The purpose of this letter is to highlight the need to reinforce the social image of nursing and to underscore the importance of coordinated efforts to improve the factors that shape it. Enhancing this image can establish a solid foundation for elevating the profession’s credibility and improving the delivery of healthcare services.
