Abstract

Background and Aims: Information technology has become an essential tool in today's world, playing a crucial role in bridging the gap between organizations and individuals, thereby enhancing their overall satisfaction levels. This study aims to determine the relationship between the use of information technology and academic satisfaction among students at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2022-2023 on basic medical sciences students at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. A sample of 310 students was selected through convenience sampling from a population of 1600 students. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires on information technology usage and academic satisfaction, and analyzed using regression methods with SPSS software version 26.
Results: Among the 310 students studied, 47.8% were male and 96.8% were single, with a mean age of 19.97 ± 2.25 years. The mean academic satisfaction score and information technology usage score were 55.67 ± 7.98 and 54.32 ± 10.79, respectively. It was also observed that as the ability to use information technology increased, students’ academic satisfaction significantly increased (p<0.001).
Conclusion: The findings indicate that the use of information technology increases student satisfaction. By facilitating access to information resources and enhancing educational interactions, this technology improves students' attitudes towards the learning process, the university environment, and faculty performance. These results can serve as a basis for developing information technology infrastructure in educational settings.
