Teaching and learning methods in nursing: a narrative review

Abstract

Introduction: One of the most important principles in education is the use of appropriate teaching methods. Choosing a suitable method in nursing education can make education very attractive and effective. This article examines various educational methods in nursing.
Methods: The current research is applied in terms of purpose and narrative in terms of review method. The research community includes all the books and articles with English keywords in Medline, PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, Google Scholar databases and with Farsi keywords in IranDoc, Magiran and SID databases. ISC are published without time limit until 2024. Finally, 22 articles and 2 books, which were most related to the subject of the study and were related to nursing education, were examined in the writing of this study.
Result: Educational methods can be based on the content of the subject, which are divided into two categories: traditional methods and non-traditional (new) methods. Traditional methods include: lecture method, group discussion, one-to-one training, practical demonstration and re-practical demonstration and new methods such as: game, simulation, role playing, role modeling, reverse education, electronic education, It is distance learning.
Conclusion: Today, there is an emphasis on changing educational methods from traditional methods to new teaching methods that cause students to learn actively. Considering that most of these methods are applicable, it needs the full support of managers.
