Abstract

Background and Aims: Nowadays, it is very important to acquire skills in the clinical environment and for students to acquire the necessary clinical skills and competencies. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the effects of team-based and task-based learning methods in the clinical area on the results of clinical evaluation in operating room students.
Materials and methods: This semi-experimental study was conducted in the fall of 1402 on 50 students of the 5th semester of operating room technology at Hamadan University of Medical Sciences. After dividing the students into two task-based and team-based groups, after implementing the training process in the operating room environment, the data related to the study was collected using the clinical assessment checklist of the operating room students.
Results: In this study, 44% (22 people) of the students were male and 56% (28 people) of them were female. According to the findings, the average total score obtained from the clinical evaluation of the students in the task-based educational group was equal to 221.44, and in the team-based educational group was equal to 205.84, the difference between these scores was statistically significant (p-value <0.001).
Conclusion: The results of the present study show the greater impact of the task-based educational method on their clinical performance, skill level, and scores obtained from their evaluation. Therefore, it is recommended to use this educational method to increase the level of students' skills and improve their performance in the clinical environment.
