Abstract

Introduction: Emotional intelligence is an attribute of behavioral readiness and desires of the individual with which he recognizes, processes, and organizes emotional information. This type of emotional intelligence is also called emotional efficiency. In the present study, the psychometric properties of the trait emotional intelligence questionnaire as one of the most important tools to assess the level of trait emotional intelligence have been evaluated.
Method: In this study, the psychometric properties of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire were surveyed by 494 high school students in Tehran province. The questionnaire consisted of 153 questions and 15 subscales and was graded according to the Likert scale of seven points. Inferential analysis of data was performed with SPSS, LISREL and AIMOS statistical software.
Results: Examination of the construct validity through the analysis of the components of the main questionnaire shows that the 15 factors extracted explain 65/65 ‌ the total variance of the variables. The main questionnaire in our study became 122 questions and 14 subscales. (One subscale and 31 questions were omitted due to negativity and lack of appropriate factors.) 14 factors include emotion management, emotion control, emotion perception, Optimism and happiness, social awareness, emotion expression, stress management, self-motivation, empathy, relationships, assertiveness, self-esteem, irritability, and adaptability. As a result of the present study, Cronbach's alpha coefficient for each of the factors in the questionnaire was between 0.48 and 0.98.
conclusion: The Cronbach's alpha coefficient obtained for each of the available factors showed that the 122-item questionnaire was valid and valid among Iranian high school students. Also, during the study, it was found that intelligence Excitement among female high school students in Tehran province is higher in regular schools than in gifted schools.
