Abstract
Introduction: Marriage is an important social phenomenon that plays a critical role in the dimensions of human life and their perspectives about marriage predict the actual behavior in marriage, which is influenced by several factors; Therefore, this study was conducted to explain the views of young girls towards marriage.
Material and method: This research is a study with a qualitative approach in which 18 girls about to get married and 4 mothers, and 4 fathers were selected based on purpose and with maximum diversity. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews, organized in Word format, and analyzed by conventional content analysis.
Results: 22 participants were female and 4 were male. Regarding the views of girls and parents about marriage, the two themes of meeting needs, family factors, and subclasses of economic, physical, emotional, social, cultural, and ideological factors were extracted. Most of the participants had a positive view of the phenomenon of marriage and considered it an important factor in the intellectual and social maturity of individuals and contributing to the health of society.
Conclusion: Although factors such as economic status, sexual and emotional needs, religious beliefs, and friends have played an important role in young people's tendency to marry; some parents believed that their marriage should be facilitated for the health of the community and the youth.
