Abstract

Introduction: Evaluation of patient satisfaction (PS) is one of the basic indices of quality improvement systems of healthcare services. Considering the importance of this subject, this study was conducted to standardize patients' satisfaction questionnaire referring to emergency department of Najmie hospital.
Materials and Methods: This analytical cross-sectional study was carried out on 538 patients that came to Najmie subspecialty hospital during 2017 using proportional stratified sampling method. In this study, after checking content validity, we used the confirmatory-explanatory factor analysis and alpha method in order to examine construct validity and reliability, respectively. In addition, SPSS software (version 24) and AMOS software (version 24) were used to analyze the data. The significance level was considered 0.05.
Results: Study population in this study consisted of 538 subjects, including 200 (37.2%) women and 338 (62.8%) men. Results of the explanatory factor analysis showed that three factors with the expression higher than 67% of the total variance and Kaser-Meyer-Olkin Index were equal to 0.93. These three factors were confirmed with the confirmatory factor analysis (RMSEA=0.05, PCFI=0.63). It should be noted that the reliability of the questionnaire was reported as 0.93 using the Cronbach's alpha method.
Conclusion: Because the validity and reliability indices of the patients' satisfaction questionnaire in the emergency department of Najmie hospital were reported at a desirable level, it is confirmed that this questionnaire can be used as a valid and reliable tool for the measurement of PS in the emergency departments.
